Future Reading

Everything is uncertain these days. As if surrounded by a thick fog that fell upon us with the beginning of a full-scale invasion, you can only plan your path one step ahead аnd must always be ready to back down.

There is no solid ground. Neither the future nor even the present is clear.

This state of limbo, which has been going on for several years now, is absolutely unbearable.

During my stay at the residence, all the conversations in our close-knit Ukrainian community repeatedly came down to the same thing - we don't know what will happen next, we don't know what to do.

The refrain that accompanies us, the shadow that sits behind every thought. Whether we celebrate the new year, or open an exhibition, or drink tea in the kitchen.

Fortune-telling on stars, on receipts from Silpo market, on tarot cards, on coffee grounds. Questions remain unanswered, cards are blank, the spread of tarot cards remains unread.

The tension dulls us on the edges. Eats us out alive. Sharpens us like a knife.
